Basic Adjustments

Basic adjustments are simple and painless. Dr. Pinkerton will palpate the muscles of your neck, back, and outer legs looking for tight and/or tender areas. These indicate a high level of muscle tension. You will then be asked to alter your breathing, while he maintains gentle contacts on these pressure points. This method allows your body to relax, and for areas of high tension to become balanced with areas of lower tension.

When muscles are effectively balanced, including the intrinsic muscles of the spine, vertebral subluxations are repositioned naturally and with virtually no force. This method of reducing subluxation is both painless and effective, since the body’s own muscles do the work. For chiropractic students and those interested in the scientific rationale for this work, please read Chiropractic Physiology by M.T. Morter, Jr.

This procedure addresses and updates a pattern of physiology that is stuck. Stuck physiology results in general symptoms such as: chronically tight muscles, stiff neck and back, and recurring pains. Torticollis, stiffness (even to the point of developing degenerative joint disease and non-inflammatory arthritis), and slow healing after injury are all the result of stuck physiology.

Advanced Adjustments

Today, most of us are aware that thoughts, worries, past traumas and a variety of other mental or emotional factors can affect our bodies physically. In the advanced treatment, Dr. Pinkerton will ask you to think of various stressors, and then check to see if your body responds to these. Certain muscles may become weak or tighten in response to thoughts.

Once these thoughts, worries or other stresses are identified, you will be asked to go through a few quick steps in an attempt to neutralize the stress. We will then check how your body responds. The goal of the treatment is to help your system identify stresses and thoughts that get in the way of your body’s natural tendency toward self- healing.

Addressing the Six Essentials

The Six Essentials for Health is a concept developed by Dr. M.T. Morter Jr., the chiropractor who developed B.E.S.T. It is a way to look at six aspects of our lives that have a significant impact on our health. These are:

  1. What we eat
  2. What we drink
  3. How we exercise
  4. How we rest
  5. The quality of the air we breathe
  6. What we focus on and think about

As a chiropractor, I can coach and advise you on how to see the link between these critical areas and how you feel each and every day. I also add to number five other qualities in our environment that can affect our health (various products we use, type of lights in our home, how much sun we get, along with several other factors). All of these things contribute to our environment and make a contribution to ill or good health.

Other Modalities/Adjuncts/Supplements

I will recommend supplements based on your current symptoms.
